#56 Forest College Museum



Forest College museum is at located at Cowley Brown Road. It is one of the oldest buildings in coimbatore and it is over 100 years old, in a way the museum building itself is an heritage site. Museum is within Forest college campus grounds and you can get  feel like a mini forest within the city. Apart from wildlife the exhibits include Arms used in olden days, wood crafts, huge collection of insects, cultural artifacts and many more.
When you enter museum a lifelike stuffed Wild Gaur (bison) welcomes you with a Sloth bear and deer next to it. Stuffed Leopard, peacock, brahmini kite and other stuffed birds, Preserved baby elephant and elephant fetus, elephant skeletons are great attractions, especially for kids. And for those who are interested/experts in Insects or timber this place would be a treat.

#55 Parambikulam




Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is part of the Anamalai Hills sub-cluster in the Western Ghats, which is under consideration for selection as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located between Nelliampathy and Anamalai ranges near the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, the sanctuary is spread across 277 sq km. Elevation of the wildlife sanctuary ranges from 984 ft to 4593 ft. Started in 1973, the sanctuary was classified as a tiger reserve in 2009.

If you are looking for adventure, then the tree-house inside the reserve forest area in Thoonakkadavu is the best option to stay. State forest department rest houses at Thoonakkadavu, Thellikkal and Elathode offer comfortable lodging. "Tented Niches" built in the sanctuary are also good. It is part of responsible tourism efforts and is managed by a joint venture of Kerala Forest Department, Tourism Department and the seven Eco Development Committees performing under Parambikkulam Forest Development Agency. The eco-friendly cottages are twin bedded Swiss tents with modern attached baths.  The Thellikkal inspection bungalow deep inside the forest requires an eight km trek.

#54 Black Thunder Theme Park




Black Thunder is the finest water theme park located at the foot of the Nilgiri Mountains near Coimbatore. And it considered the biggest water theme park in whole of Asia. This theme park encompasses a sprawling area of greenery and natural landscapes. It extends to nearly 65 acres of rustic land near the forest boundary.

The Black Thunder theme Park has many entertaining games for children and adults alike. Luxury accommodations are available for family and for other tourists. Tourists come here for holidaying with their family and have endless fun. Corporate meetings and casual get-togethers are common with conference halls and board rooms available here. Lunch is served in the open lawn that appears like a green carpet. A multi cuisine restaurant caters to all sorts of menu that is popular with people. Other facilities in the offing are a Health club, forty deluxe rooms for stay, a bar, coffee shop and children’s play area.

A massive 12 acre land is available for parking. The nearest access from Coimbatore to Black Thunder can be by road or train to Mettupalayam.

#53 Kovai Kuttralam



Kovai Kutralam is approximately 35 kms from the man bus stand. Most probably closed during the November, December times.  It is an amazing waterfall in the midst of cool nature and one can really enjoy a full day with the entire family at this spot.. Look out for stealthy monkeys and road side iguanas.
Limited bus service is available from the city and this area is out of bounds after 5 pm.

#52 Dhyanalinga Temple




The Dhyanalinga Temple is located in Isha Yoga Center, about 35 km from the city, in the quiet and tranquil surroundings at the Velliangiri Foothiils. Just sitting inside the temple with eyes closed for 15 minutes can make you peaceful and meditative. Make sure to take a dip in the copper pond before entering the temple, it can greatly enhance the experience and rejuvenate the body. Every day at 11:50 a.m and 5:50 p.m. there is a Nadha Aaradhana event, when live music is being played inside the temple. On a certain days there is Maha Arathi (performance with music, dancing and fire) in front of the temple.
